What fluid are you running in your PSC full hydro steering? Also what cooler do you have installed, & does it work well?

I just run the normal cheap PS fluid. I have the 12" PSC cooler, seems to work fine.

That is the one I was looking at, they have a 24" cooler, just didn't know if the 12" would be enough.

i run the 12" psc cooler too warren with hardly any air flow over it and it works fine. no problems yet even in the warm weather im Moab. I too run just the cheap power steering fluid in my set up. just dont use atf warren. does the reservor you have, have a filter in it. If not you might want to think about putting in an external mount filter, that will give you aprrox 1 more quart of fluid capacity which will help it stay that much cooler.
if ya need a hand at all just let me know i would be more then happy to come give ya a hand any time.

of course royal purple works great when it only gets used a couple times a year. you better read the install directions again it says do not use atf or it will void your warranty

My reservoir does not have a filter, I have one on order. The instructions that came with my kit said to use a power steering fluid, no ATF or void the warranty. They recomended Royal purple. Is Royal purple available at any auto parts store? I have never looked for any kind of power steering fluid. I am going to get the 12" round cooler. Cylinder, & orbital are mounted, links are done, welded some double shear brackets on my steering arms. Just have to order the cooler, & plumb everything in. Got a FJ60 rear axle to install when I do the links, it is 3" wider, so I can get rid of the spacers on the rear at least. Thanks for the offer, Steve, I am almost done with this project. Have a few more scheduled for this winter, just getting started. I may take you up on it later.

i dont know what parts houses carry royal purple. when i ordered mine i talked to the tech guy, and he told me they recommend royal purple because they pay them to run the add on their site that plain ol power steering fluid works just as well. if you ask at just about any parts store you can get it by the gallon.
you going to be ready for a Thangiving weekend day run Warren

I figured that royal purple was recomended because they are paying. I want to run something that is available everywhere, so no matter where I am, if something happens I can go to any auto parts store, & get it. I don't think I will be ready for a Thanksgiving run, It is possible, I would have to put the 60 rear in as it is, don't know if brakes will fit.

The Napa over by 217 and 99 had a large display of royal purple products, I think they had just about everything.

they say to use the royal purple because it will keep the fluid 20% cooler than conventional

I read on Pirate that Amsoil synthetic will make it run cooler than other oils, lots of different opinions, I think the way the system is set up makes a difference also, flow restrtrcitons, etc. There were many different opinions on what type of cooler to use too, some swear by the heat sink, others stacked plate type, others tube, & fin. I ordered a heat sink cooler more for a space saving than anything else, & you guys running it seem to be happy with the way it cools.
