Well I am sure this has been covered but I am slow so....
I am looking at buying my very first Winch, yeah!! Anyways I am looking at the Warn XD9000i and the 9.5xp. I like the 9.5 cause it has the 6hp motor and is a bit heavier in the rating. I also like the 9000 cause it has an integrated solenoid which is protected by the case, it is also the best selling winch Warn has, which to me there must be a reason right. Anyways, anyone have either of these or any input would be cool.

What about the new "V" series from MileMarker, they are supposed to be waterproof and are less expensive.

i had a t-max they are good but slow. i had the warn xd9000i and traded it for a sweet 44 magnum. it wasnt that great of a winch. if your gonna go warn. for a toyota i would go with the 9.5 i think its the hi. the 8274 is the best, depending on what size winch you want though. i have heard good things about smittybuilt, but never seen one.

Now i am thinking between the 9.5xp and the 9.5ti, they both are on Warn's $100 rebate list.

Warn is probably the first choice for a wheelin rig, they have the fastest line speed. I like the 8274 best because of the large diameter drum, when you are pulling at an angle, there is more room for the cable when it spools up at one end of the drum. I have an old reliable 8274 that will go on the scout. I also have an xd8000i on my landcruiser on the FJ40, it is a good winch, fast line speed, but the small diameter drum is sometimes a pain in the a$$. I just bought a SI12000 mile marker for the tow rig from winch depot at a good price. www.winchdepot.com/

I have a SmittyBuilt 8000lb on my Jeep, it seems like a good winch, was pretty cheap too ($300 I think). Had it for about a year now, no complaints. I did break the end of the cable off from the spool, but it was my own fault. Got it from Winch Dept too.

Well I decided to get the 9.5ti from Warn. I found it with my discount for $1099, plus the $100 rebate from Warn, $999. They got my name on it just have to find time to get it, hopefully tomorrow on lunch.

my grandpa was the gm at the warn plant here in clackamas from the start. For like almost 30yrs. He died in 1984 right before retirement. im kinda partial to the warn winches. my dad had quite a few free winches, and even one custom made for his jeep. it was a polished 8274 with a purple winch line, i sure would like to know who has that one!

you cant go wrong with a 8274 I wouldn't have any other winch. Do the upgraded motor and put 3/8 line and you got an extremely fast 10,000lb winch. Ask Leadfoot how reliable this winch is......pulled him up the mountain once. Need more choices of smiles.
